Education
Participate believes in the essential role of collective and collaborative learning as the catalyst of social transformation and impact. This means a supporting ecosystem of learning is needed to make impactful and sustainable transformation in society. Therefore, we open the opportunity for those who are interested in diving into the Development and/or Social Change sector to learn together through our Education program.
We provide two types of programs:
Mini Class
Delivered in a one-time or series seminar mode, Participate Mini Class provides knowledge and experience sharing to introduce participants to particular concepts or ideas in the development sector, i.e: project management, monitoring & evaluation, program design, communication for development, social & behavioral research, organizational governance and more.
This program is suitable for participants with little to no prior experience in the Development or Social Change sector and interested to gain basic knowledge and insights to further build their expertise in this field.
Workshop
Delivered through multiple meetings through Participatory Action Research (PAR) practice, Participate Workshop offers collective and experiential learning through a social learning space which allows participants to bring their experience and involvement in a practice to the learning table. We provide learning experience in a group settings where participants actively engage with the process of learning through some interactive activities using creative methods, i.e: individual and group reflections, dialogue and discussions, exercises and case study, and more.
The genuine interactions and meaningful conversations among the learning partners will allow participants to learn, unlearn, relearn and finally generate deeper knowledge and insights to navigate the challenge of social change according to their experiences. In this setting, learning process happens through interaction, rather than through knowledge acquisition.
This program is immensely valuable for those with previous experience in the Development or Social Change sector seeking a hands-on experience of learning to dig multiple perspectives, generate a more comprehensive knowledge and insights and integrate into social action for a more structured, impactful and sustainable changes. This process serves to increase the participants’ learning capability as the agent of transformation within a social system. Entry Level Professionals who aim to up-skill or re-skill to dive deeper into doing works in the Development sector are welcomed.

Your Learning Journey
Through the Workshop, you will take part in a learning project with other young professionals following 6-phase learning activities as follow:

You'll learn how to reflect on your personal journeys and find your values. This first step also takes you to address barriers of participation, as well as ethics of the learning project.
Phase 2: Facing the Unknown
Here, you will also reflect on lived experiences. You will learn how to understand issues from various contexts and perspectives and craft collective inquiry as the aim of the learning project.
Phase 3: Co-creating Action
With community's direct participation at the forefront, this phase will teach you how to design action, determine tools as well as approaches together to solve the problem.
Phase 4: Making It Happen
For a systemic change to happen, various aspects must be considered and covered. Stakeholders help make changes happen, and you’ll explore various insights of interacting with the people that will support and work with you to achieve a common goal.
Phase 5: Taking a Step Back
When aiming for change, you surely don't just move towards the future blindly, right? This is the phase where you'll learn how to reflect on the action and level of participation, as well as analyze the results.
Phase 6: The Final Retreats
After every ending, there's a beginning. This phase will help you understand how to finalize learning, scoring validity, writing-up, and preparing future inquiries.
